This course is ideal for individuals looking to start a career in carpentry. This qualification enables you to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding so you can work as a Carpenter/Joiner within the construction industry.

This Level 2 qualification provides you with a range of site carpentry skills and knowledge. You will also develop an understanding of the health and safety requirements for working in the construction industry, and the industry itself.

What does the course cover?

This qualification comprises of the following 8 modules:

  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Understanding information, quantities and communication with others
  • Carry out first fixing operations
  • Carry out second fixing operations
  • Carry out structural carcassing operations
  • Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools
  • Understanding construction technology

The assessment requirements set for this qualification are multiple choice knowledge tests and practical assignments.
All units in this qualification are mandatory and you must attain at least a pass in each unit in order to achieve the overall qualification. Achievement of this qualification will be assessed via a combination of knowledge testing and practical assessments that can be combined for synoptic delivery.

Attendance is required on the following days:

  • Monday 8am - 3pm
  • Tuesday 8am - 3pm
  • Wednesday 8am - 3pm

or

  • Wednesday 8am - 3pm
  • Thursday 8am - 3pm
  • Friday 8am - 3pm
What will I achieve?

On successful completion you will achieve Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry (Construction).

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry grade requirements however, you must complete an initial assessment and interview.
