Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Courses (TAQA)
The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Process and Practice has replaced the V1 Internal Verifier course.
There are 3 routes available and the route you choose will be dependent on your role in the assessment process. If you want to know which is most suited to you and your current role, please contact us.
To apply for this course you must:
- have a good level of English, maths and IT
- have at least 2 assessors with two candidates who are studying for a vocational qualification or an in-house qualification that you can quality assure.
It is recommended that you hold a recognised level 3 assessor qualification, however prior experience and job role will be taken into consideration.
Unit 401: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
This is a knowledge-only unit for those wanting to become an Internal Quality Assurer. It has also been designed by those who need to know about the assessment practice and quality assurance as part of their role, but who will not be directly involved in the quality assurance of Assessors.
Unit 401: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

Unit 402: Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
This unit is intended for individuals whose job requires them to maintain the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre. The units within this Award capture the skills, knowledge and experience needed to perform the key activities of internally quality assuring assessment, by sample planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessors. It is suited to those who are, or will be, working in quality assurance and for managers and HR professionals who require a professional development qualification in assessment.

Unit 403: Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility
This unit is intended for those whose job role requires them to lead a team of internal quality assurance personnel and manage quality processes.
