Apprenticeship: Business Admin Level 2
Apprentice at: Old Trafford Medical Practice
Provider: The Skills Company
Lauren attended a two week Business Admin course with The Skills Company. During this time she was introduced to This is Me before securing an apprenticeship.
Deciding to become an apprentice was a positive step for me. I have learned so much, developed my knowledge and skills, and have had the opportunity to build my confidence.
Why did you decide to become an apprentice?
When I was at school I was considering an apprenticeship. I decided to go to college; after which I decided to become an apprentice. I had attended a two week Business Admin course with The Skills Company. This experience led me to wanting to pursue an apprenticeship in Business Admin as the job role interested me.
What is one of your favourite aspects of the job role?
Being able to provide quality support to patients makes the job really worthwhile. It is important to me that I provide the best possible care and understanding.
What would you say to young people considering an apprenticeship?
Having the opportunity to work is really worthwhile! The combination of on the job learning and training alongside studying towards a nationally recognised qualification has increased my confidence; I even get asked questions by staff members as the studying aspect of the apprenticeship has meant that I have gained knowledge in areas they haven’t.
What are your next steps?
I would like to continue working at Old Trafford Medical Centre as the staff are supportive and make me feel valued. Everyone here encourages me to be the best I can be. I am considering taking on a Level 3 Business Admin role after I have completed my Level 2 Apprenticeship.
Do you think This is Me is useful for people looking to develop their employability in preparation for applying for apprenticeships?
Yes! If a learner hasn’t had the chance to work on things like their CV & practise for an interview, this website will really benefit them.
Lauren is fantastic. She is approachable and picked up on how to use the computer system quickly. She takes on board any learning and works well in a team. I would definitely consider employing an apprentice again.
