In just a few short years The Bury Black Pudding Company has grown from a small stall on Bury’s world-famous market, to become a successful internationally-renowned food manufacturer. During this period, the company moved in to a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Bury’s J2 Business Park and has since experienced phenomenal growth.
As a high-growth organisation, The Bury Black Pudding Company had reached a stage where it wanted to consolidate key areas of the business. One of these areas was the management team. The team of young managers had not experienced any formal training and had acquired skills by learning on the job. Consequently, they were experiencing significant challenges around managing difficult staff situations and meeting ambitious production targets.
After meeting the management team, we created a training programme to address five key themes: communication, task management, conflict management, coaching skills and leadership.
The training took place off-site and was highly interactive and motivational. The team were introduced to a widerange of practical and fundamental management concepts. Each module included key actions that could be implemented immediately. This approach enabled them to take things to the next level, very quickly. The outcome of this was to create a series of positive impacts that improved productivity.
To embed the skills and ensure sustainability, the programme concluded with a team-building day at Challenge 4 Change in Trafford Park.
By tapping into the potential of its people, The Bury Black Pudding Company has enabled the workforce to develop and thrive and to sustain success during one of the worst-ever economic climates.
With lucrative contracts with most of the top retailers, including: Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsburys, Asda, Cooperative, Iceland, Selfridges and Booker, The Bury Black Pudding Company is now well-positioned to consolidate its market share and plan for future growth.
